Lieutenant (r) of the Venezuelan Army, Ronald Ojeda Moreno, has been reportedly kidnapped from his apartment in Santiago by a group of unknown individuals. The family of Ojeda Moreno has reported the incident to the Public Ministry, while authorities in Chile are working to locate him.
It is believed that the kidnapping may be connected to the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence of Venezuela, as Ojeda Moreno was one of the 33 soldiers expelled from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) by Nicolás Maduro for “conspiracy.” The Venezuelan Ministry of Defense stated that Ojeda Moreno was involved in planning criminal and terrorist actions to attack the government and institutions of the State, and even contemplating the assassination of national leaders, which they deem as ‘Acts of Treason to the Homeland.’
Ojeda Moreno’s placement on this list has led to speculation that people linked to organized crime could be behind the kidnapping. The Maduro regime has also not ruled out taking criminal measures against Ojeda Moreno for the crimes he is accused of.
As the search for Ojeda Moreno continues, the motive and location of the kidnapping remain unknown.
