Millonarios Femenino began its journey in the 2024 Women’s League with a goalless draw against Independiente Medellín at the Nemesio Camacho El Campín. Despite the good options of those led by Angie Vega, the ambassadors could not keep the three points. This is how it was experienced from the stadium.

A girl walks hand in hand with her grandfather and step by step they climb the stairs of the western stand of El Campín. They are both dressed in blue, but she stands out with a smile that lights up her face and the Millonarios t-shirt, two sizes too big, which she surely inherited from her.

He, while he is a little tangled with her jacket and two raincoats in case it rains, smiles when he sees his granddaughter’s excitement when she sees the imposing field of Bogotá’s soccer temple. Like her, there were dozens of boys and girls who came to the stadium to see the debut of Millonarios in the 2024 Women’s League.

Despite the complicated schedule on a Friday afternoon, the El Campín stands little by little were painted blue. At the same time that those directed by Angie Vega from Valle del Cauca were warming up, the popular and oriental bars were hanging out their clothes.

The excitement and expectation was felt in the atmosphere. The warm-up music stopped and applause rang out after the presentation of each of the ambassadors. And yes, there were also whistles for the visiting players.

The minutes passed and the teams took the field for the anthems. Tatiana Ariza, wearing the captain’s armband, was at the head of the blue team that seemed motivated and united. “Bogotá, Bogotá, Bogotá!” the crowd sang and Millonarios moved the ball.

The ambassadors, who shook the market with 24 signings, quickly went on the attack, but Medellín recovered and began to threaten the capital’s team. The Antioqueñas opted for a more physical game and cut the game short with constant fouls, while the Bogota players stepped into the rival area on the wings, especially on the left with Lina Gómez.

Millonarios tried to find the goal with filtered passes and relied on the Chilean Lesly Olivares and Daniela Castellanos, the team’s ’10’. Kena Romero, the nine of the ambassadors, tried to take advantage of the gaps that Medellín left, but it had no effect.

Meanwhile, in the popular stands, those who led the songs were the girls. In the Blue Rain, a handful of blue fans, with flags of Bogotá and Millonarios, began to chant the songs on the field to encourage the team of their loves. The Blue Commandos also waved their flags.

Despite the efforts of the ambassadors, the first half ended with a zero for zero. Medellín closed in their field and hit several times, while Millonarios, despite their good attitude in defense with María José Torres, could not successfully define the multiple collective plays.

For the second half, the Blue Rain girls welcomed the team with white and blue smoke from fire extinguishers. Millonarios continued trying tirelessly on the wings and looking for a goal with Kena Romero, but the goal could not be achieved.

The game was blocked and interrupted. The visiting team caused several fouls and stopped the game on more than one occasion due to injuries to its players. Already around the 75th minute, the Albiazul fans, who were increasingly more, began to push and become more involved in the match.

With the clock against, the ambassadors began to seek victory even more. They went into a completely offensive phase and did not stop pressing in the rival area.

On the next date, Millonarios will rest, while Medellín will face Alianza at home on Saturday the 24th at 3:30 pm. The ambassadors’ next duel will be on matchday three, Saturday, March 9, visiting Alianza at 3:30 pm at the Raúl Mirando Yumbo stadium.
