The “Lady” of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi, skipped today’s court hearing for health reasons. This was announced by one of her lawyers, Min Min Soe, stating that the woman suffers from “dizziness” and difficulty walking. Aung San Suu Kyi, 76, has been under house arrest since the military junta led by General Min Aung Hlaing took power in Naypyidaw in a coup d’etat last February 1, overthrowing the government led by the National League for democracy (NLD) by Aumg San Suu Kyi on the day of the inauguration of the new Parliament.
According to the lawyer’s account, Aung San Suu Kyi would have felt ill during the drive. At the moment, the Burmese leader cannot communicate independently with the outside world, since her every contact is closely monitored by the military. The trials underway against her in Naypyidaw see her accused of illegal importation of two-way radios, violation of the protocols for the containment of Covid-19 and corruption. All accusations rejected by the defense, according to which they are politically motivated.
