Bodø/Glimt – Crystal Palace 0-1 (Marbella, Spain)
On Thursday afternoon, Bodø/Glimt got to warm up to Premier League opposition in Spanish Marbella. The London side were just too big for the All Yellows, in what must be said to be a very evenly played match.
At the start of the match, however, it was Bodø/Glimt who completely dominated the match. Unfortunately, the northerners were unable to break down the English properly.
– We are good in our pressing game. We are solid defensively. We are good at free play. The collective understanding is a bit lacking in the last third to get to more. I am satisfied with a lot, and there is a lot to build on, coach Kjetil Knutsen could state after the match.
– Fun to play in the middle
One of the yellows who got to toughen up against Premier League opposition was Fredrik Sjøvold. He was back in midfield after being loaned out to the back for several games.
– I think it’s more fun to play in midfield, so it’s a lot of fun. There are other challenges with that, so I just have to deal with that.

He says the following about the match:
– It may not be the most exciting match to watch, because there weren’t that many chances. But it’s a nice test and we see some contours of what we’re trying. If we had met them again, we would have managed to create even more.
– Should have punished them more severely
Sjøvold also believes that Bodø/Glimt were fully on par with Crystal Palace, but he noticed that the red and blue had great qualities within the team.
– Player by player, they are very good, you can tell by the way they handle the ball. They seem to have such a good time when they have the ball. It is something that we have to work on as well. Structurally, we should have punished them more severely. We are no worse off there.
Knutsen particularly noted Palace’s physical and direct play. He also says that it was by no means a bad edition of England’s 14th best football team.
– We face a very good team. The starting eleven is their PL team. It is a challenging opponent. They have a direct game and tremendous physicality in their team. There is a lot about this match that I like, but we must be more aggressive in exploiting the potential in the match. We do a lot of good things, but we get too little of the final product.
