Padang (BETWEEN) –

The explosion that occurred at Semen Padang Hospital, West Sumatra (Sumbar), on Tuesday (30/1) afternoon resulted in serious damage to the first floor of the local hospital.

“We haven’t reached the hospital yet, but serious damage has occurred on the first floor,” said Semen Padang Hospital Public Relations Officer (Pj) Dewi Nensi Putri in Padang, Wednesday.

He said the first floor of the hospital was an outpatient facility and polyclinic.

As of Wednesday afternoon the Police Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) team was still conducting examinations and investigations at the scene.

Head of the Riau Police Laboratory, AKBP Erik Rezakola, said that his party was focused on examining the first and seventh floors of the hospital.

He said his team, together with teams from the National Police Headquarters, West Sumatra Regional Police, and Padang Police Inafis, would carry out a thorough inspection.

“We will carry out a thorough search from the first to the seventh floor of the hospital to obtain technical criminal evidence,” he said.

In other parts, until Wednesday afternoon, police and TNI personnel were still seen guarding the incident location, while a police line was installed at the entrance.

The condition of the hospital is still paralyzed since the explosion on Tuesday afternoon, however, outpatients or families who need information can go to the emergency tent set up by the hospital.
