Svalbard, the cod war. Oslo vs Brussels: “There will be consequences”

OSLO – The Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard is at the center of a bitter dispute between Norway and the European Union over cod fishing. In the coming weeks, EU fishing vessels risk being hijacked in the waters off the polar bear islands, and their owners prosecuted because Oslo claims their catch quotas are over.
