Chelsea eliminated Leeds United in the fifth round of the 2023/2024 FA Cup, winning 3-2. The Blues advance to the quarterfinals.
Playing at Stamford Bridge, London, Thursday (29/2/2024) early morning WIB, Chelsea vs Leeds was tight. Both teams exchanged goals.
Mateo Joseph put Leeds ahead first, before Nicolas Jackson responded. Mykhailo Mudryk then led the home team to a 2-1 lead at the break.

In the second half, Leeds equalized the score through Joseph. However, Gallagher emerged as Chelsea’s hero with his goal in the final minute. Chelsea won 3-2 over Leeds.
The victory ensures Chelsea progress to the quarter-finals of the 2023/2024 FA Cup. Next, Mauricio Pochettino’s men will face Leicester City,
The Course of the Match
Chelsea was pressured by Leeds from the start. In the 8th minute, Daniel James almost scored a goal against the hosts. Taking advantage of Sanchez’s mistake, which was slightly out of the nest, but his shot was still sideways from the goal.
Goal! Leeds actually scored a goal not long ago. A back row error allowed Mateo Joseph to break into Chelsea’s goal.
Caicedo’s mistake cost Chelsea the ball in the penalty box. The ball then headed to Joseph, and was passed into a goal with a right-footed kick. Leeds lead 1-0.
Chelsea tried to attack. Finally, the equalizing goal was scored in the 15th minute.
Nicolas Jackson scored the goal. Caicedo was able to give him a through pass into the penalty box, and finished with a right foot kick that sent the ball into Illan Meslier’s goal. The score is 1-1.
Chelsea took the lead in the 37th minute. Mudryk got his name on the scoreboard, taking advantage of Raheem Sterling’s pass.
Leeds tried to respond in the remaining time of the first half. However, Chelsea managed to maintain their 2-1 lead.
In the second half, disaster also came for Chelsea. Joseph was able to bring Leeds to equalize the score in the 54th minute, continuing Jaidon Anthony’s pass. The score is 2-2.
Leeds put a lot of pressure on Chelsea after that. The host only occasionally threatens. Until finally Conor Gallagher emerged as a hero.
In the 90th minute, Gallagher broke into the Leeds goal. Continuing Enzo Fernandez’s pass, Gallagher’s kick sent the ball into the Leeds goal. The 3-2 score lasted until the end.
