Two more games postponed due to lack of policing

The Leixões-Nacional and Feirense-Académico de Viseu games, both from the 20th round of the II Portuguese football league, scheduled for this Sunday, had to be postponed due to lack of policing.

In the case of Leixões-Nacional, which should have been held in the morning, the decision was taken at the preparatory meeting for the match, an hour before the game, approximately, at the Estádio do Mar, in Matosinhos, following the observation that there was insufficient policing and that the agents present were fewer than necessary.

It was the PSP itself that considered, given that situation, that the conditions for the game to take place were not met, which led those responsible for the Portuguese Professional Football League present and the clubs involved to agree to postpone the game.

The meeting between Feirense and Académico de Viseu, scheduled for this Sunday at 3:30 pm, was also postponed “as there are no security conditions for it to take place”, revealed the SAD of the Santa Maria da Feira emblem.

The postponement of Feirense – Académico de Viseu comes just hours after the Minister of Internal Administration, José Luís Carneiro, admitted having had guarantees from the GNR and PSP that this Sunday’s games would take place.

For now, there is still no new date for Feirense – Académico de Viseu, which also joins Famalicão – Sporting as meetings that did not take place this week due to the lack of policing.

The constraints in holding football games result from protest actions that GNR soldiers and PSP agents have been carrying out across the country.
