Yusuf Demir, who has not even been considered for short appearances since January by the Turkish champions Galatasaray Istanbul because of injuries, is back in the Austrian U21 squad. Team boss Werner Gregoritsch nominated the 20-year-old for the two friendlies on June 16 in Wiener Neustadt against Iceland and on June 20 in Senec against Slovakia.

Gregoritsch also uses the two games to assess five debutants such as Angelo Gattermayer (Admira), Raphael Hofer (liefering) and Nikolas Sattlberger (Rapid) before the start of the European Championship qualification in September. Among other things, he has to do without his defense chief Leo Querfeld. With Ervin Omic, Nikolas Veratschnig and Benjamin Kanuric, other regular players were not called up either.
