A campaign to avoid opposition to the donation, which in the first quarter of 2021 represented 33.2% at the time of the renewal of the identity card.

At a time when the pandemic is making the work of intensive care units much more complicated, consequently reducing organ harvesting and even transplants – a note from the CNT reads – the consent of citizens to donate becomes even more fundamental. To date, almost 9 and a half million declarations of intent have been registered in the Transplant Information System, of which 7 million of ‘yes’ and 2 and a half million of ‘no’: opposition is still very high, and in the first 3 months of year, compared to 628 thousand new declarations collected by the municipal registry at the time of the renewal of the identity card, the ‘no’ were as many as 200 thousand, (therefore equal to 33.2%).

Information – the note recalls – is the key to reducing denials, which are often caused by poor knowledge of the subject, prejudices and real fake news. For this reason, the new national campaign aims to reach citizens with a simple message: donation is a natural choice, which costs nothing since it occurs after death, and which can save the lives of up to 7 people in need of a transplant and give back to many others a better quality of life by donating tissues.

Many tools have been put in place, starting with the new website www.sceglididonare.it. Until 11 April, the campaign will be promoted on Rai networks thanks to the support of ‘Rai per il Sociale’, while for over two weeks a radio spot will be on air for which Emilio Solfrizzi, popular actor and protagonist of films and fiction, has lent the voice. successfull. Solfrizzi also kicked off the campaign on social networks, which will see the involvement of health workers, patients, volunteers from associations and even some well-known faces from the world of entertainment.

In addition, the video spot of the campaign will be broadcast for a whole month on the maxiled and on the TV circuits of the 14 main Italian railway stations of Grandi Stazioni – Ferrovie dello Stato Group, from Roma Termini to Milano Centrale passing through Turin, Bologna, Naples and Palermo. , and will also be broadcast on Mediaset Play.
