At around 17:00 on July 21, extreme weather of wind and hail occurred in parts of Qingyuan District, Baoding City, Hebei Province. One of the villages was hit by a tornado, causing damage to several factories and at least two deaths.
At about 17:00 that day, Donglu Village, Donglu Township, Qingyuan District, Baoding City, was suddenly hit by a tornado. Online videos showed that a large number of debris was blown up by a tornado, flying in the sky, and the roof of a factory building was overturned by the wind, and the scene was in a mess.
The Yanzhao Evening News reported that a villager in the village was quoted as saying that a tornado hit the southwest of the village. There are many factories in the village, and the roofs of the factories are colored steel structures. The roofs of many villagers’ houses are also made of color steel plates. When the tornado struck, many colored steel roofs were blown up and scattered around. Some courtyard walls that are not too strong have also collapsed. The tornado also caused many telephone poles in the village to break, and many natural gas pipelines broke, causing power outages and gas outages.
The Propaganda Department of the Qingyuan District Committee of Baoding City of the Communist Party of China reported on the evening of the 21st that at around 17:00 on the 21st, extreme weather of wind and hail occurred in parts of Qingyuan District, Baoding City, lasting about 30 minutes. Among them, Donglu Village, Donglu Township, suffered a tornado, which was more serious, causing damage to many factories and serious injuries to two people.
A mainland netizen said, “The tornadoes have arrived in Baoding.” “The most feared tornado is so close to Beijing.” “There are so many extreme weather this year?” “What year is this? Don’t have any more trouble.” “Henan heavy rain, Tornadoes in Hebei. There are a lot of disasters this year.”
Since the beginning of this year, extreme weather such as tornadoes, heavy rains, thunder and lightning, floods, and hail have occurred across the mainland.
At around 0:15 am on June 15th, Fangcun Town and Yizhuang Town, Tongshan District, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province were suddenly hit by heavy rain and tornadoes, causing serious damage to many houses and injuring 12 people.
On May 22, the “Yellow River Stone Forest Mountain Marathon 100-kilometer Cross-Country Race” started in Baiyin, Gansu Province. Participants were killed and 8 injured due to extreme weather such as heavy rain and hail.
On May 14, Wuhan and Suzhou were hit by a level 12 tornado. Cars were overturned, big trees were uprooted, a large number of houses collapsed, tower cranes several meters high were broken off, and signal towers weighing more than ten tons were knocked down. Nearly 400 people were killed and injured.
On May 3, a giant tornado suddenly appeared on the sea surface of Yangjiang, Guangdong, and rushed to the shore. Tourists screamed and fled, but some people stopped to take pictures and others were caught.
On the evening of April 30, hail and large-scale severe thunderstorms occurred in parts of Nantong City, Jiangsu, causing 11 deaths and 102 injuries. Another 9 people were missing on the sea due to the capsize of the ship.
