Contents Security control employees at Berlin, Hamburg and Stuttgart airports are on strike on Thursday. The airline announced that Swiss’s outbound flights can take place as planned. However, the planes have to make the return flight without passengers because they cannot be checked.
A total of 16 Swiss flights to Zurich are affected: 8 from Berlin, 5 from Hamburg and 3 from Stuttgart. Swiss also announced that 1,800 passengers would now be “proactively rebooked on flights at a later date”.
Those affected could also rebook themselves. Swiss asks all passengers to check the status of their flight on the Swiss website in good time.
With the strike, the German union Verdi wants to increase the pressure on the ongoing collective bargaining for the approximately 25,000 aviation security employees. The employer must “finally submit a significantly improved, agreeable offer”. No agreement has been reached between the collective bargaining parties in the five rounds so far. The next round of negotiations will take place on March 20th.
