SUVS are the most popular vehicle type of 2024 so far. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) 28.9 percent of new cars registered by February 2024 are SUVs.
The most popular SUV models of the new year include the VW Tiguan* (first place), the VW T-Roc* (second place), and the Skoda Karoq* (third place). Places four and five go to the Opel Grandland X and the Mercedes-Benz GLC/GLK.

28.9 percent of the 211,965 new cars registered in January 2024 are SUVs. There are also off-road vehicles at 13.4 percent. This makes SUVs and off-road vehicles by far the most popular vehicle type of the year so far 2024 – ahead of the compact class (20.2 percent) and small cars (11.5 percent). This emerges from statistics of all new registrations from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) in January 2024.

But which models are particularly in demand? This question can also be answered using the KBA statistics. The most popular model is the VW Tiguan, which was approved a total of 6,396 times by February 2024. With 4380 new registrations it works second place to the VW T-Roc. Far behind on that Third place goes to the Skoda Karoq with 2852 new registrations. The Opel Grandland X (2493 new registrations) and the Mercedes-Benz GLC/GLK (2420 new registrations in total) complete this Top Five of the most popular SUVs of the new year.
