The “Bibliotenda” is born to host cultural events

by admin

She was baptized “Bibliotenda“. It is the tensile structure set up in the courtyard of the Palazzo del Collegio that the Astense “Giorgio Faletti” Library has purchased to host its own events. «It is a structure with a considerable cost – he explains Roberta Bellesini, president of the Library – but which became necessary regardless of the pandemic. The problem is given by the setting up of the column room, having to move tables and chairs every time. Now, however, this space can also be used during the normal opening of the Library without having to interrupt the service ».

A “taste” took place at the end of September with meetings and a book market. The experiment was successful, so the library management decided to buy a tensile structure that can be opened in the warm season, while now it is closed and heated. «This space – continues Bellesini – is available to anyone wishing to organize a meeting, present books, or even a children’s party. It is a space that the city must feel its own ». “It is a multipurpose space – confirms the councilor for Culture Gianfranco Imerito – with a considerable potential and represents an enrichment for the cultural offer of the city”.

The first appointment, designed for the little ones, will be held today at 6 pm with the «Readings for the Holidays», by the volunteers of «Born to read». A corner has been set up following the Bibliobimbi style, with a Christmas tree and colorful furnishings. Participation is free, but it is necessary to book by writing to [email protected].

Tomorrow the second appointment will be the Christmas edition of the Book Market, where you can find gift ideas among books of all kinds. There will also be the bookcatcher stall with texts for young readers. It will be open from 9 to 13 and from 15 to 18.

Passepartout in winter

The new “Bibliotenda” will host the meetings of the next edition of “Passepartout En Hiver”, the series of meetings on Sunday afternoon dedicated to in-depth topics and narrated by people from Asti. All appointments will start at 5pm. This is the calendar:

January 16. Gianluca Ghiselli, «A year in Antarctica».

January 23. Ernesto Perduca, “The Balkans between the past that does not pass and the future that does not arrive”.

Soon
After the cycle of «Passepartout en hiver», other appointments at the Bibliotenda have been announced. The first will be a series of six conference meetings with the photographer Franco Rabino by title «The brush of light: encounters, clashes and contaminations between photography and art history». From March we will talk with him about the never-enough-clarified relationship between painting and photography, on the specifics of the two forms of expression starting from Impressionism up to the present day. “This is not a photographic technique course – specifies Rabino – I will instead try to help create a culture of the photographic image”. Indicatively they will be held on Friday at 9pm.

Another initiative will be the project “The Witnesses” of the classical high school «Vittorio Alfieri», part of the IIS Vittorio Alfieri, leader of the Digital Biblio Agorà (DBA) network with the collaboration of the Astense Library, also part of the DBA network. The project includes a series of face-to-face meetings (but in the event of a worsening of the pandemic it will be online) for students of the Institute and the Network, but also open to citizens, on aspects of the 20th century and the early years of the millennium. The first guests shown are Paolo Conte, of the journalist Domenico Quirico, the restorer Gianluigi Nicola and the director Giacomo Battiato.
