With economic and fiscal axis, the debate on the Omnibus Law continues in Deputies

The debate on the omnibus law continues in a plenary session of committees of the Chamber of Deputies. During today’s session, 62 representatives from civil and business organizations will present on articles related to economic and fiscal issues. The Executive Branch intends for the project “Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentines” to obtain a ruling between Thursday and Friday that will allow the matter to be brought to the court on Saturday the 19th or Monday the 22nd.

The speakers will speak in front of the legislators of the General Legislation, Budget and Constitutional Affairs commissions. The day began today at 9:30 with the presentation of Lisandro Ganzúaof the World Organization of Free Zones, and will end with the exhibition of Aida Kamelmajerfrom the Open Letter from Academics and Jurists, scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Today will be the fifth plenary meeting and will have a total of 65 exhibitors virtually and in person, the same number that was presented on Monday the 15th.

One of the first legislators to speak at the beginning of today’s session was the head of the Unión por la Patria bloc, the deputy German Martinez, who reiterated a request that several legislators have been demanding: that officials of the National Government also appear. In particular, the legislator stressed that the Chief of Staff, Nicolas Posse; the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo; and the author of the omnibus law project and presidential advisor, Federico Sturzenegger so that they analyze the “constitutionality” of both the debated norm and DNU 73/2023.
