New Hospital in Macerata Set to Begin Construction in 2025

After years of planning and anticipation, the new hospital in Macerata is finally set to become a reality. The financing for the project has been secured, and the tender for the design of the works has been issued. Regional health councilor Francesco Acquaroli confirmed that construction is scheduled to begin at the beginning of 2025, with an estimated cost of 185 million euros.

The new hospital center will have 379 beds initially, with the capacity to expand to 434 beds in case of emergency events. The project has been described as a major milestone in the city’s healthcare history, with Governor Matteo Zallocco expressing his excitement about the modern facilities and services that will be available to residents.

In a recent press conference, the Macerata Territorial Health Authority presented the positive results of its first year of operation. General director Marco Ricci highlighted the growth in hospitalizations, surgical activity, specialist services, and visits compared to previous years. The increase in oncological screenings and surgical operations is particularly significant, showcasing the dedication of healthcare professionals in the region.

Vice President Filippo Saltamartini praised the efforts of the Ast in providing healthcare services to citizens, especially during the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasized the importance of bringing healthcare services closer to the community and announced plans to establish Health Points in various areas to ensure widespread access to medical care.

The Regional Healthcare System has also made significant investments in telemedicine and technology to enhance the quality of care provided. New services, such as vaccination clinics for vulnerable patients and telemedicine monitoring for chronic conditions, have been introduced to improve patient outcomes and accessibility to healthcare.
