Construction of New Middle School and Gym to Begin in Former Tobacco Factory Area
The construction of a new lower secondary school (middle school) with an attached gym in the former tobacco factory area, known as the “Unbreakable” zone, is set to begin in March. The administration has awarded the construction contract to a temporary grouping of companies for a contractual amount of 6,574,753.07 euros (excluding VAT).
The Consorzio Stabile Poliedro di Parma and CFC Società Cooperativa di Reggio Emilia, who prevailed among the ten offers received, will be responsible for the construction of the new school center.
The future school center will occupy an area of 6,766 square meters, with 4,961 square meters designated for open spaces. The new middle school will feature a two-floor rectangular building, hosting 9 classes with a total of 252 students. Additionally, a multi-purpose and regulation basketball sports field will be located on the school’s roof.
The attached gym will be type A1 with changing rooms and services, open to the public with a grandstand with a capacity of no more than 100 seats. The sports facilities will also include a four-lane athletics track and a platform for jumping (high and long).
In addition to the school and gym, the area will feature outdoor educational activities areas such as vegetable gardens, an orchard, greenhouse, and a green system with a variety of tree species. A public park measuring 15 thousand square meters will also be developed, featuring street furniture, paths, and cycle paths.
The new facilities aim to provide a modern and well-equipped environment for students and the community, with a focus on promoting physical activity and outdoor education. The project is set to transform the former tobacco factory area into a vibrant and dynamic educational and recreational space.
The construction is expected to bring positive changes to the area, providing new opportunities for the community and creating a hub for learning and sports.
