Food alert for two products recalled by the Ministry of Health due to the presence of plastic and soy not declared on the label. Here are the details.
The list of food recalls is getting longer. In fact, after the food alert for Lidl product due to the possible presence of highly toxic substances, here are two other reminders.
In this case, the alert concerns a branded food product IKEA of Sweden AB and brands From the Good Earth Pedon e Cuisine and Flavors (by MD).
Food alert: the Ministry of Health recalled two well-known products for contamination
Regarding the first recall, it is a food alert of IKEA branded product of Sweden AB. In particular, SYLT JORDGUBB Organic Strawberry Jam, 400 g produced in the Swedish HAFI plant, Hallands Fruktindustri AB.
The reason for the recall is the possible presence of plastic fragments in some packages. Therefore, the recommendation of the Ministry of Health is not to consume but to return the packages with the following expiration dates to the store:
- 2023-03-01;
- 2023-03-02;
- 2023-03-03;
- 2023-03-28.
Furthermore, the ministry announces that it is not necessary to “proof” the receipt and that the remorse will be total.
Chia seeds package collection
The second food alert, on the other hand, concerns the Chia seeds (Salvia hispanica) because traces of soy have been found in some packages. Its presence is not indicated on the label and taking it could be very dangerous for allergy sufferers. But also for those who suffer from certain diseases and cannot take soy.
As a result, the Ministry of Health recalled the packages of chia seeds sold by the brands From the Good Earth Pedon e Cuisine and Flavors (by MD). The production plant is the Pedon Company located in Colceresa in the province of Vicenza (via del Progresso 32).
Below are the packages withdrawn with an indication of the expiry date or minimum storage term (Tmc) that corresponds to the production lot:
- 06/18/2023: Chia seeds From Good Earth Pedon, in bags of 150 grams;
- 06/19/2023: Chia seeds from the Good Earth Pedon, in bags of 250 grams;
- 11/06/2023: Chia seeds Cucina e Sapori by MD Spa, in bags of 250 grams.
The ministry recommends people allergic to soy not to consume the product, but to return the packaging to the point of purchase. Also adding that “There are no risks for consumers who are not allergic to soy”.
