From Valle d’Aosta to Modena to learn about the network of ASL services dedicated to cognitive disorders and dementia

Since the start of the regional dementia project in 1999 – explains Andrea Fabbo Acting socio-health director of the Modena Local Health Authority and head of the geriatrics operational unit of the Modena Local Health Authority – in this province there has always been a strong focus on the need to create a widespread territorial network for the management of people with dementia and their families with the choice of creating a CDCD in each district. Over the years, this attention has also manifested itself in the good integration between the network of services, the voluntary associations and the hospital (for support in the diagnosis and management of complex cases) and in the creation of a care model based on involvement, right from the start. from the diagnosis of the general practitioner”.

During the visit, the Valle d’Aosta delegation had the opportunity to get to know and learn more about the entire network of ASL services dedicated to cognitive disorders and dementia, both through interaction with all the professionals of the Modena CDCD and through a visit to some services and experiences such as the recently inaugurated Meeting Center, the Memory Gyms, the Nodaia of Villa Igea and the Alzheimer’s Unit and Day Center located at the CRA “9 January” in Modena. The day was also enriched by a seminar discussion on diagnosis, treatment and prevention models in dementia.
