German Bundestag – AfD parliamentary group demands disclosure of raw data

Berlin: (hib/PK) The AfD faction calls for the raw data of clinical trials of drugs to be disclosed. The current legal situation stipulates that the sponsor of a clinical trial submits a summary of the test results to the competent authority, according to an application (20/7666) by the parliamentary group.

The protection of confidential personal data and trade and business secrets applies both inside and outside the European Union. Even anonymous data, so-called raw data, of the individual participants in a clinical trial would not have to be submitted. Experts criticized the omission of the data in view of the health-related risks.

According to the AfD parliamentary group, sponsors of clinical trials of medicinal products should be obliged to make anonymous raw data from these trials available to third parties upon justified request for non-commercial, non-military medical research purposes while maintaining data protection and data security.
