Osteopaths in the ward, the Ancona project reaches India – Italian hospitals

(ANSA) – ANCONA, JULY 10 – The experience of osteopaths in the ward of the Torrette hospital in Ancona crosses national borders and reaches India. The #Mistannoacuore project, created by the non-profit association “Un Battito di Ali” in collaboration with Roi, the Register of Osteopaths of Italy, arrives in the city of Raipur, in the central-western part of the country. The announcement arrived today in Ancona, where the project representatives explained that 30 Italian Roi-registered osteopaths will go to India to assist local professionals in the recovery of cardiac children operated on at the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Center for Child Heart Care hospital in Atal Nagar, in the city of Raipur.

It all stems from the “Un Alleato in Corsia” project, which brought professional osteopaths into the pediatric cardiac surgery department of the Torrette hospital led by Marco Pozzi. “The introduction of osteopathic treatments within our department four years ago – he said today – was a great innovation, and a pioneer in pediatric cardiac surgery. We have demonstrated very positive results over the years, which have gone beyond expectations , with great benefits for patients: pain reduction, less need for analgesic drugs, faster recovery of motor activities, better quality of sleep and consequent life of the child and his family, better food absorption”. An experience that this year has led to an increase in the numbers employed in Torrette and then to thinking about exporting the initiative.

The team of the Jesi non-profit organization Un Battito di Ali e del Roi was well received in India: “The project with the Raipur hospital is a gift to those less fortunate than us. The presence in India was very strong, because obviously in that nation children do not have the same opportunities as we have here” said the president of “Un Battito di Ali” Chiara Mormile.

“It is a great honor – explained Marco Petracca, national councilor of the Roi – to actively participate in this project, which we hope will not only improve the care of children with heart disease in India, but will also help to reaffirm the benefits that osteopathy can give in the Italian healthcare context”.
