The Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Frankfurt (Oder) Clinic has had a new chief physician since the turn of the year: Prof. Dr. med. Oliver Peters moves from the Charité to Markendorf and takes over management of the clinic.

“Prof. Dr. med. Oliver Peters is a recognized expert in the fields of psychiatric and geriatric psychiatric treatment. In addition to managing inpatient care, he will also take over the two institute outpatient clinics in Frankfurt (Oder) and Seelow.

About your professional career

Prof. Dr. med. Oliver Peters has worked at the Charité Berlin since 1999, where he completed his habilitation in 2014. From 2008 to 2023 he was senior physician at the geriatric psychiatric day clinic and also headed the memory consultation and the center for dementia prevention at the Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC) at the Charité. In 2019 he received the additional qualification “Geriatrics” and has also held a W2 professorship in geriatric psychiatry since 2019. In addition to his work as chief physician, Prof. Dr. med. He is also actively involved in clinical studies for the treatment of cognitive disorders and dementia. His research interests focus on the early detection, prevention and treatment of cognitive disorders and neurodegenerative dementias. The focus is on neuropsychological and biomarker-based diagnostics using imaging and neurochemical methods, cerebrospinal fluid diagnostics and genetic risk profiles.

“I am particularly looking forward to working with my new team, consisting of medical colleagues, psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and social workers. Together we will develop scientifically based therapeutic options in close coordination with our patients and patients,” adds the new chief physician.

The Frankfurt (Oder) Clinic, one of five RHÖN-KLINIKUM AG locations, is a state-of-the-art medical facility in Brandenburg with a supra-regional care mandate.
