A change in the treatment regimen for multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, half a million cases worldwide each year, was announced in early May by the World Health Organization. New research and experiments have brought clear data on the effectiveness of a “short” therapy of six months, rather than 18-20 months or even 9-12, with 3 or 4 drugs for all patients over 15 years.
