Technology & Design: it’s not just a question of style

by admin

In the beginning it was the smartphone manufacturers who realized that theirs were not just tools for communication but elements of identity, constantly on display as a piece of clothing. The tendency to pay more attention to the lines of laptops and desktop computers, then, was definitively consolidated as soon as the PC world had to admit that Steve Jobs was right: even for a computer the eye wants its part. The customer’s eye, for example during a commercial negotiation or an on-site visit.

Over the years, however, greater attention has been paid to the aesthetic design of the devices an accurate research on nuances and materials, not only to satisfy the eye, but also to make the devices more sustainable and to introduce innovative solutions in ever more compact dimensions.

Today the lines, the materials, the colors and the engineering devices are the fundamental elements in the design of a computer and represent a way to define one’s own brand identity and stand out from the competition.

Acer and the Awards: a nearly 10-year history

The Acer page reserved for design awards and innovative technological solutions is truly dense and has medals won since 2012. More recently, Acer has won the prestigious iF Design Awards 2021 with 6 products. In particular, the laptop was awarded ConceptD 3 Donkey and the desktop ConceptD 300 designed for creatives, the notebook Predator Triton 300 SE and the monitor Predator X34 S of the line for gamers, finally the Porsche Design Acer Book RS and the related TravelPack RS.

The iF Awards are international awards that recognize design and technological innovation aimed at a real evolution in use. Of the Porsche Design Acer Book RS, for example, features have been appreciated such as the antimicrobial touch screen, the glass touchpad and the hinge that raises the notebook when the screen is opened, favoring air circulation and therefore heat dissipation. The carbon fiber cover, then, completes a truly exclusive design.

Awards also for the line of Acer computers designed for creatives such as the ConceptD 3 Ezel notebook, a convertible style gem that provides, among other things, the processing and presentation of works from every angle of view. The ConceptD 300 desktop, on the other hand, is a powerful workstation in a compact body, with tapered lines, elegant and functional with its doors placed in the front. Available in two sizes, it makes an appearance in the studios of architects, designers and video editors.

The Predator X34 S curved monitor and Predator Triton 300 SE notebook, both designed for gaming, were also awarded with the iF Design Awards 2021. Best “angular” vision, futuristic mechanical details and precise color representations, these are the reasons recognition that allow an even more immersive immersion for the gamer. And also in this case it is about innovation and functional and emotional design.

The recognition to the Predator Triton 300 SE is another example of how important functional design is. If the aesthetics are sober and clean, the 1.7 kg of weight and the 17.9 mm of thickness for an all-metal frame, the narrow edge display make it the ideal device for the gamer, and that is why it is been awarded.

In conclusion, we would like to point out that Acer has not only bought up the iF Design Awards 2021 but has also won the reddot 2021 with its Swift X and the TravelMate Spin P6, as well as with the Porsche Design Acer Book RS, and has collected prizes. also at the latest edition of Computex.
