Apple Pay would be in the crosshairs of the EU Antitrust: the Cupertino digital payment systemused by hundreds of millions of people around the world, would have come under fire in Brussels because, according to investigators led by the Commissioner for Competition, Margrethe Vestager, it would prevent rivals from accessing its payment system.
According to the Financial Times, Apple (which currently has a capitalization of 2,500 billion dollars) could face fines of up to 10% of global turnover if the allegations were confirmed.

The case, launched in 2020, is one of the many investigations open in Brussels against Apple and comes within days of the agreement on Digital Service Actthe new regulation for digital services that will increase the responsibilities of digital platforms on the surveillance of illegal content online, and on Digital Markets Actdesigned to curb the market power of American tech giants.
Again according to what is written by the Financial Times, the same Apple’s chief executive, Tim Cookat the beginning of April he allegedly criticized the DMA, saying that “politicians are adopting measures in the name of competition that would force Apple to allow the installation on iPhones of apps not present on the App Store” through a process called sideloading (what’s this?).
