These findings align with data from the Spanish Federation of Sleep Medicine Societies (FESMES), which indicate that 10% of the Spanish population has a sleep disorder, and another 30% wake up feeling unrested or fatigued.

The consequences of inadequate sleep go beyond feeling tired during the day. A major meta-analysis published in the American Psychological Association’s journal has shown that all forms of sleep loss, including total sleep deprivation, partial sleep loss, and sleep fragmentation, can lead to emotional changes the following day. These changes include a reduction in positive mood and an increase in anxiety levels.

Experts emphasize the importance of addressing sleep issues, as chronic sleep deficit has been linked to the development of various diseases, including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, and some types of cancer.
