Same swab, same brand, same leaflet and even the same barcode but with a very different price. Purchase a test Covid it now becomes a hunt for the best deal, at least for those who want to minimize the negative balance that the disease brings with it, between medical visits, tests, drugs and masks.
INSIGHTS
It is the customers themselves who report the price difference at which the swabs are sold from shop to shop.
Some photos that have gone viral in WhatsApp chats show two receipts compared: on the one hand a do-it-yourself test bought at the pharmacy at the price of 5.90 euros, on the other the identical “Egens” branded product purchased at 0, 99 euros in a Chinese emporium in Fiumicino. The chats and groups are heating up: “How is it possible that there is such a huge difference?”, most people ask. The difference is undoubtedly the different profit margin of the two stores.

On the left in the images, the pharmacy receipt dated 5 January 2024 and priced at 5.90 euros, with the health references of the medical device, on the right the purchase in the emporium dated 10 January with a 5 euro difference.
Different receipts, same Covid swab
In the viral images the contents of the two boxes show the exact same components present in the two packages. Who knows if their result was also identical.
