The Top 5 Best and Worst Diets for Weight Loss According to the European Medical Institute of Obesity

The European Medical Institute of Obesity (Imeo) has released a ranking for the best and worst diets to lose weight in 2023. The top five recommended diets are the mindfulness diet, intermittent fasting ’16/8′, the flexitarian diet, the diet for the care of the microbiota, and the diet that avoids ultra-processed foods. These diets are not only aimed at helping individuals to lead a healthy lifestyle, but they are known to result in a weight loss of between 1.5 kilos a week and no more than six kilos a month. The rankings were prepared with input from around twenty experts in obesity and health care which include endocrine doctors and bariatric surgeons, clinical and sports nutritionists, dietitians, psychologists, therapists and physical trainers.

Some of the worst diets in comparison according to the ranking include addictive substitutes such as alcohol, tobacco or slimming pills as well as the sirtfood diet. These are all considered to be the worst diets since they are based on harmful substances or actions like speeding up oxidation, slowing down metabolism, or suppressing appetite. The Sirtfood diet is also criticized for its very low-calorie intake which is unsustainable in the long run.
