In the department, the Huila Police, authorities have recovered a total of 55 motorcycles during the month of January, as a result of various control activities and operations implemented in the region.

These recovered vehicles have been returned to their rightful ownerswhile others are in the process of being returned in collaboration with the Prosecutor’s Office.

One of the most recent cases took place in the municipality of Pital, where the authorities managed to capture an individual suspected of having illegally seized a motorcycle parked outside a home. Thanks to the quick warning provided by the owner and neighbors, the police were able to capture the alleged thief, who was trying to escape on the motorcycle via La Plata.

In a separate action in the municipality of Baraya, another individual was detained while riding a motorcycle that had previously been reported stolen in the municipality of Garzón. This individual was arrested for the crime of receiving, and the motorcycle was recovered and placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.

Colonel William Javier Lara Avendaño, commander of the Huila Police Department, reported that During this year, 10 more motorcycles have been recovered than in the same period of the previous year. Likewise, he called on citizens to properly secure their motorcycles and avoid leaving them without proper security, in order to prevent possible theft. The commander also urged the community to report any suspicious activity or relevant information through the 123 emergency line, with the aim of collaborating in the fight against crime in the region.
