In a joint effort between the Carabineros of the Huila Police and environmental authorities, a total of 64 wild animals have been rescued so far this year.

These species, which were disoriented, in captivity, abandoned or in dangernow receive a new opportunity thanks to the coordinated action of these institutions.

Among the rescued animals are various species such as ocelots, opossums, monkeys, hawks, deer, snakes and others. Each one of them represents an invaluable part of the Huila ecosystem, and their rescue contributes significantly to the conservation of biodiversity in the region.

Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Eduardo Téllez Betancourt, commander in charge of the Police in Huila, emphasized the importance of these actions for the protection of local ecosystems. He stressed that for the Police it is a fundamental priority to ensure the care and preservation of these species, which are an integral part of the natural wealth of the department.

In recent days, several high-profile rescues have been carried out, including the release of two hawks in Brussels, two ocelot puppies in the municipality of Campoalegre, a monkey in Pitalito and an opossum on Route 45. These cases demonstrate the commitment of local authorities to the protection of wildlife and respect for animal life.

The joint work between the Police, the CAM and other environmental entities has been essential to guarantee the conservation of biodiversity in Huila and promote a sustainable balance between humans and nature.
