Magnitude 3.5 Earthquake Hits Feidong County, Hefei City in Anhui Province
An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 struck Feidong County, Hefei City, Anhui Province at 18:13 on February 24, according to the China Seismological Network. The quake had a focal depth of 15 kilometers and its epicenter was located at 31.99 degrees north latitude and 117.60 degrees east longitude.
Nearby villages and towns affected by the earthquake include Xiaoliuhu, Sanggang, Beichenwan, Liangtaoyuan, Xiaosunhu, Luanzhuang, Yangzhuang, Hebei, Wugang Village, and Xiaoluhu within 5 kilometers of the epicenter. Towns within 20 kilometers such as Liangyuan Town, Dianbu Town, Shitang Town, and others were also impacted.
The surrounding counties were also affected, with the epicenter being 17 kilometers away from Feidong County, 31 kilometers away from Yaohai District, and 38 kilometers away from Hefei City. The terrain near the epicenter has an average altitude of about 35 meters.
In the past five years, a total of 9 earthquakes of magnitude 3 or above have been recorded within 200 kilometers around the epicenter. This recent earthquake marks the largest one in the area.
