Tomorrow hydrogeological risk for thunderstorms
(ANSA) – breaking latest news, MAY 15 – Ordinary criticality – yellow alert for hydrogeological risk due to thunderstorms, tomorrow, throughout Abruzzo. This is what we read in the criticality bulletin issued by the Civil Protection functional center of Abruzzo, which invites the Municipalities “to pay particular attention and to implement the actions envisaged by the Municipal Emergency Plan, especially in the areas where present landslides in progress and on the areas covered by fires”.
Throughout the day tomorrow, underlines the Functional Center, “scattered to widespread precipitation, also of a downpour or thunderstorm nature, is expected in the southern sector, with generally moderate cumulative quantities; from isolated to scattered, even of a downpour or temporal, on the remaining areas, with cumulative quantities from weak to punctually moderate”.
In the event of a yellow alert, an “occasional danger to the safety of people with possible loss of human life due to accidents” can occur. Among the possible localized effects, there are flooding of underground rooms and those located on the ground floor along streets potentially affected by water outflows; damage to infrastructure, buildings and agricultural activities, construction sites, civil and industrial settlements affected by landslides, rapid flows or surface water flow; temporary interruptions of the road and/or railway network near watersheds, canals, depressed areas (underpasses, tunnels, road depressions) and downstream of slope portions affected by landslides; limited damage to hydraulic and bank defense works, agricultural activities, construction sites, civil and industrial settlements in the riverbed.
