Colombia will be the guest of honor at the Jazz and New Orleans Festival

Vibrant Colombian music will resonate through the streets of New Orleans during the Jazz and Heritage Festival, which will take place from April 25 to May 5 in the State of Louisiana.

Under the motto “Colombia, the Country of Beauty”, the event will feature a Cultural Exchange Pavilion dedicated to celebrating the rich cultural diversity of the South American country.

Ambassador Daniel Ávila, charge d’affaires of the Colombian Embassy in the United States, expressed his excitement for this opportunity to share Colombia’s passion for music with the American public. More than half a million festival attendees are expected to enjoy the Colombian experience and the performances of more than 175 representative artists.

These talented musicians will offer a wide variety of Colombian rhythms, including salsa, cumbia, champeta, vallenato, chirimía, currulao and cowboy songs.

In addition to the presentations on the festival stages, daily parades will be held in honor of Colombia and crafts from indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities from 10 departments of the country will be exhibited. Visitors will also have the opportunity to enjoy delicious traditional Colombian cuisine, prepared by chef Francisco Escalona, originally from San Andrés Islands.

Colombia’s participation in the 2024 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival was possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge, and the Colombian Embassy in the United States.
