This is what is written in the certificate that“Falcone-Borsellino” council chamber“, Mayor Enrico Di Giuseppantoniohanded over to Samuel Massathe 14-year-old student of Fossacesia of the Nautical Institute of Ortona, who a week ago, while he was fishing with a friend on the Via Verde of the Costa dei Trabocchi, he dived into the sea to save a roe deer which, injured after being hit by a car on Statale Adriatica 16, was floundering in pain in the water.

Samuel, accompanied by his parents Pasqualino Massa e Ottavia Luciani and some of his friends, he appeared emotional.

On the home page of the school website, to underline the gesture of which Samuel was the protagonist, the director wrote: “Thank you Samuel for reminding us that being young also means being generous”.
The roe deer saved by Samuel, a male just under a year old, after being initially handed over to the Atessa Forestry Carabinieriwas checked by the doctors of the Animal Health Veterinary Service of ASL2 Abruzzo, and after a few days of convalescence, he was released.
