Covid, vaccinations in Sicilian parishes at the start: 5,867 booked

PALERMO – Anti-covid vaccinations began at 8 in the 300 parishes in Sicily. There are 5,867 citizens, ranging from 69 to 79 years, who have booked by responding to the initiative provided for by the memorandum of understanding signed between the president of the Sicilian Region, Nello Musumeci, and the Sicilian Bishops’ Conference and which provides for the use of premises of Sicilian parishes as a “population vaccination point”. The purpose of the agreement is to accelerate the immunization campaign by also involving unconventional structures to more easily reach the elderly population. The vaccination points at the parishes will be operational uninterruptedly until 18.30. In the parishes of Palermo and the province, 1,339 people should be vaccinated, 716 in the capital alone. A vaccination center has also been set up in the cathedral of Palermo.

In each center there is a doctor, a nurse and an administrative to fill in the forms. The protocol includes the parish exemption declaration from any form of responsibility in case of consequences directly attributable to the health effects of the administration of the vaccine. And still today in Sicily the express courier SDA of Poste Italiane is taking care of the delivery in these hours of 105 thousand Astrazeneca vaccines. The latest deliveries are destined for the hospital pharmacies of Giarre (23,100), Milazzo (13,000), Enna (3,400), Palermo (26,000), Erice Casa Santa (9,000), Syracuse (8,300), Ragusa (6,700), Augusta (1,000) , Agrigento (9,000), and Caltanissetta (5,500). Thus, the anti-Covid doses delivered by SDA to the centers of the island rise to about 400 thousand since the start of supplies. By Easter, the courier of Poste Italiane will manage over 3 million 100 thousand supplies throughout the national territory. Poste Italiane reminds that the vaccination dose can be booked by citizens who are part of the targets concerned through the usual channels made available by the company: the booking platform.vaccinicovid.gov.it, the dedicated call center – by calling the toll-free number 800.009.966 active from Monday to Friday from 9 to 18 (excluding Saturdays and holidays) -, the 687 Postamat ATMs and through the network of 2,300 postmen operating on the island. It is understood that reservations are subject to the availability of slots established by the vaccination centers. If during the request phase it is not possible to proceed, it is advisable to try again in the following days or when the institutions communicate new availability.
