Deputies extend the emergency regime for another 30 days – Diario La Página

With the votes of the legislators of Nuevas and the allies, the Legislative Assembly approved to extend for 30 more days, from January 12 to February 10the regime of exception, to continue the war against the gangs, until the last of the criminals is captured and pays for the horrendous crimes committed against humble and hard-working Salvadorans.

This will be the 22nd extension, since the measure was imposed by legislative decree, at the request of the President of the Republic Nayib Bukele, on March 27, 2022, as a result of the fact that only on the weekend of the 25th to the 27th of that month, 87 murders committed by terrorists were recorded. The President of the Legislative Assembly, Ernesto Castroin statements to the press, stressed that they will continue to extend the emergency regime as many times as necessary, until the last gang member is captured, because the results of its application “are successful and, above all, because they have brought peace, tranquility and security to “the population, who thanks President Bukele for having captured and imprisoned the majority of criminals.”
