Diego Guauque returns to Séptimo Día after a tough battle against cancer

The prominent reporter Diego Guauque will return to television after winning a tough battle against cancer.

With courage, he returns to the Caracol Televisión studios to rejoin the renowned program ‘Séptimo Día’.

Guauque, who previously openly shared his difficult journey on social media, revealed that his fight against sarcoma was a grueling ordeal that challenged his health and plunged him into moments of deep anguish and uncertainty. With sincerity, the journalist connected with those who showed concern for his well-being throughout this challenging chapter of his life.

«A year ago, at this time, I was in the ICU with two blows. At this point we already knew that he had cancer, a sarcoma, and the second blow is that the surgery that sought to remove that sarcoma had not worked,” Guauque shared at the beginning of his story.

Despite the adversities, The communicator stressed that he never lost faith in God and in the doctors. In an admirable gesture, he did not at any time reproach the health professionals for the surgery that he did not achieve the expected result.

January 24, 2024 marked a significant milestone in the life of Diego Guauque, as returned to Caracol Televisión, his work home for 15 years. Although he felt “strange,” describing himself as a child attending school for the first time, he expressed his happiness and motivation at this new chapter.

«I am very motivated, happy, I feel like a child who is attending school for the first time.“A little scared, I feel strange, although I’ve been there for about 15 years (…) the time is approaching, let’s see what this first day of work is like in the second half of my life,” he shared excitedly.

Diego Guauque thanked the doctors, and stressed that he was always a believer in them and in God. In his words, he expressed his gratitude to Caracol Televisión, the company that has sheltered him with affection, and was eager to return to the air in the program ‘Séptimo Día’, foreseeably at the end of March or beginning of April, marking the triumphant return from this beloved journalist to the screen.
