Overall, blood pressure increased by 1.25/1.14 mmHg (systolic/diastolic) in those who consumed one standard drink of alcohol per day compared to those who were completely abstinent over the study period. With a very high consumption of four standard drinks daily, the increase compared to abstainers was 4.90/3.10 mmHg.
