This March 27, El Salvador celebrates two years since the current Government implemented the Exception Regime, a measure that has allowed not only to capture thousands of gang members, but also to provide security to Salvadorans.
This strategy was promoted by the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, after El Salvador registered 62 homicides in a single day, a wave of violent deaths at the hands of criminal structures.
“The Exception Regime came to transform El Salvador in terms of security. Now, our population lives in true peace and freedom, and we are known worldwide as the safest country in the entire Western Hemisphere,” said Security Minister Gustavo Villatoro.
It should be noted that this security measure has allowed El Salvador to have 471 days without violent deaths since its implementation. In addition, it has positioned the country as the safest in Latin America, being an example for many countries worldwide in combating gangs.
