Gender-based violence in the Pacific

This document is a first approach to understanding gender-based violence (hereinafter GBV) in three cities in the Colombian Pacific—Buenaventura, Tumaco and Quibdó—in three dimensions.

The first is the characterization of the relationship between GBV and organized crime. Contrary to the relationship between GBV and the Colombian armed conflict, the impact of organized crime has been less explored in the literature and even in the investigation and prosecution initiatives of these crimes (Lozano, 2016).

The second is the characterization of the institutional offer that exists to address these crimes in the included cities. F

Finally, we characterize the barriers and limitations of this institutional offer that affect institutional care of GBV.
