One way not to suffer from the heat in what is already considered the hottest summer in recent years could be to have a swimming pool to cool off in whenever you feel the need. Among the options contemplated by law and good manners, however, there is not that of stealing the swimming pool from someone else’s house as happened last Monday in Castellamonte.

The sensational theft, which occurred on Monday in the middle of the night, took place in via Rivarotta, Trinità Region, while the owners of the house targeted by thieves were sleeping in bed. To inform the citizens of what had happened the night before was a family friend who, through a post on social media, wanted to draw attention to what happened to monitor the situation, in case someone saw strange movements or had information about those responsible for the typically summer act.

“The theft took place in a typical Canavese house, in the countryside, recently refurbished, where some time ago the owners had installed a medium-sized above ground swimming pool, with a capacity of about 15 thousand liters of water – says Emilio Champagne. , family friend of the owners – During the night the owners of the house had heard some noises, but looking outside they had seen only lights in the distance, in an area that can sometimes be frequented by couples in love in search of privacy ». The sad discovery took place in the morning, when the newly installed swimming pool had disappeared from the garden of the house: “The thieves cut the fence net with shears to be able to enter the property, then emptied the pool, probably helping themselves , as well as with the opening of the special valve, with rubber tubes to speed up the flow of water – says the friend again. – Surely they must have had a van about a hundred meters from the house, because the structure was large enough not to fit into a car. In addition, some garden furniture has also disappeared, all for a value of more than a thousand euros ».

Immediately after the call to the carabinieri, who then carried out an inspection to try to identify those responsible and drew up the complaint filed by the owners of the house. What causes dismay, in a time of drought and water scarcity like the present one, is above all the waste of water that occurred in order to steal the pool. The mayor of Castellamonte Pasquale Mazza is very disappointed: «We are experiencing a difficult time from the point of view of the water emergency. We live in a terrible world, in which one does not realize the gravity of actions that may seem trivial – comments the mayor. – There are many 15 thousand liters of water, whether they come from the aqueduct, for which an anti-waste ordinance is also active, or whether they have been taken from a stream. I invite everyone to reflect before engaging in reckless acts. Whether it is a theft, always to be condemned, or whether it is a matter of wasting basic necessities, the consequences of which will fall on the entire population ». –
