VENZONE. A 39-year-old woman from Trieste was rescued between 3 and 4.30 pm on Monday 18 July on a track that descends towards Rio Lavaruzza, about 150 meters above the town of Portis.
The woman, who was with others, suffered a strong sprained ankle and was no longer able to continue, as the downhill path was rather steep. The ground teams of the Alpine and Speleological Rescue station of Udine / Gemona arrived on the spot with four technicians, the rescuers of the Financial Police and the firefighters.
Together they loaded the woman on the stretcher, after having immobilized her limb, and carried her down the path on the shoulders, ensuring the descent with the safety ropes. The woman went to the hospital with her own means.
