The annual express delivery business volume in 2023 is projected to reach an impressive 132 billion pieces in China, maintaining the country’s position as the world leader in express delivery for the tenth consecutive year. This was revealed in a report which also predicted a resurgence in the country’s logistics market, with the total social logistics volume expected to reach 350 trillion yuan in the same year.

In addition to the record-breaking express delivery business volume, the national railway achieved a milestone by completing cargo shipments of 3.91 billion tons, while civil air cargo and mail transportation volume reached 7.35 million tons, essentially returning to pre-pandemic levels in 2019.

Furthermore, the industrial competitiveness of logistics companies in China has shown steady improvement, with over 9,600 A-level logistics companies anticipated to be in operation by the end of 2023. The total logistics business revenue of the top 50 logistics companies is also expected to exceed 2.3 trillion yuan.

Financial report data indicated that SF Express is projected to lead the way in terms of annual operating income in 2023, with their logistics business set to reach 191.149 billion yuan. Meanwhile, YTO’s annual express delivery product revenue is estimated at 51.124 billion yuan, and STO and Yunda express services are forecasted to generate 39.099 billion yuan and 44.611 billion yuan respectively.

The sheer scale of the express delivery business in China is evident in these staggering figures, with a total of 132 billion pieces expected to be delivered next year. As we marvel at these numbers, it’s worth considering how each individual contributes to this vast logistical network.
