Ministry of Water Resources: Post-Disaster Water Conservancy Facilities to be Repaired by June
In efforts to restore and strengthen water conservancy infrastructure following natural disasters, the Ministry of Water Resources has announced plans to accelerate repair work on key facilities nationwide. According to Yao Wenguang, director of the Flood and Drought Disaster Prevention Department, a total of 5,542 projects have been identified for repair, with 4,558 already completed as of March 1.
The ministry aims to achieve a total repair rate of 82.2% by the end of June, with a particular focus on 412 important projects related to flood control safety in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Of these, 326 have already been repaired, equating to a repair rate of 79.1%.
The progress was shared during a press conference held by the State Council Information Office, highlighting the government’s commitment to protecting communities and enhancing disaster resilience. With the remaining projects set to be completed in the coming months, efforts are being made to ensure the safety and effectiveness of water conservancy facilities nationwide.
As the repair work continues, the Ministry of Water Resources is working diligently to address post-disaster challenges and strengthen infrastructure for future resilience. With a focus on maintaining water security and flood control capabilities, the completion of these projects will be a significant step towards safeguarding communities and promoting sustainable development.
