Motorists were injured in at least two places in the Netherlands on Monday evening due to accidents that took place near farmers’ protests.

Things went wrong on the A15 near Herwijnen and at Citadel in Veenendaal, which runs parallel to the A12.
Two cars collided on the A15 near Herwijnen in Gelderland, local media report. This happened at the spot where farmers had started a fire on the roadside. Two people had to be taken to hospital.

Several vehicles collided at the Citadel in Veenendaal. One person became trapped and was removed from the vehicle by the emergency services, a spokesperson for the Central Netherlands police said. This person was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The spokesperson could not say whether the accident on the road to Van der Valk in Veenendaal was caused by a farmers’ protest. “It is clear that protests took place at the entrance and exit of the A12.” Photos that action group Farmers Defense Force shared on X showed that a fire had also been set on the A12 near Veenendaal.
