Murder Regeni, sit-in in front of the court for the new preliminary hearing: “Justice now or stop in relations with Egypt”

ROME. New preliminary hearing in piazzale Clodio – and new sit-in – on the murder of Giulio Regeni, the Italian researcher kidnapped, tortured and killed by four 007s in 2016 in Egypt. Present at the sit-in, organized before the court of Rome, were the parents, the mother Paola Deffendi and Claudio Regeni, accompanied by the lawyer Alessandra Ballerini, who showed the yellow banner with the words “Truth for Giulio Regeni”.

The TV presenter Flavio Insinna also participated in the presidium, who wanted to bring his closeness and solidarity to the Regeni family. “Why am I here? The question is to be asked the other way around. Why not be there? We must be there – said Insinna when asked by the chroniclers of piazzale Clodio – As Giulio’s mother said on that face she saw all the pain in the world, we must not rest until the truth is reached. We owe it to the family, to the good part of this country. I want to live in a country, as the Pope says, that finds a sense of fraternity, where your pain becomes mine. This family is doing an extraordinary work with a composure unique in the world. From the first minute, I got attached to this story. I am interested in the political will to move forward, I hope that high politics do the good of the people it administers. High politics must give the truth to this family ».

Fnsi president Beppe Giulietti was also present in piazzale Clodio. “We are here to say that we will never stop demanding truth and justice. We will ask for an interruption of relations with Egypt should it pursue a policy of omission and cancellation of evidence ”, underlined Giulietti.
