Ejina Banner, Alxa League, Inner Mongolia, is a small border town with a population of only over 30,000. In the golden autumn of October, the Populus euphratica forest is full of forests, and Ejina ushered in a bright moment, and tourists flocked to it.

However, since mid-October, it has become the eye of the storm. As of 15:00 on October 27, a total of 92 local confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia have been reported locally.

The small city suffered a major examination of the epidemic, and the prevention and control of the epidemic and nearly 10,000 tourists stranded here are facing pressure from food and accommodation, which affects people’s hearts.

  Closed overnight

This season is the most beautiful time in Ejina, attracting tourists from all over the country to come to see Populus euphratica forest.

Weng Jinyu, a girl from Wuhan, came to Ejina Banner from Wuhan, Hubei, rushing to Populus euphratica. In the evening of October 17, she and her three companions arrived at Ejina Banner and checked into Xinjian Hotel.

According to the original plan, a group of 4 people will go to the Populus euphratica forest one kilometer away the next morning. They just stayed in the hotel before seeing Populus euphratica.

On October 17, Ejina Banner received a letter from the Comprehensive Disease Control Center of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, stating that two tourists who went to Shaanxi tested positive for nucleic acid. These two tourists had driven to Ejina Banner on October 13th.

On the 18th, 5 people in Ejina Banner tested positive for nucleic acid. According to local media reports, all five of them had contact with foreign tourists. The local emergency response mechanism was quickly activated, closed for 48 hours, roads were closed and scenic spots were closed, and large-scale nucleic acid testing was in full swing.

Also arriving in Ejina Banner on the 18th was a 10-person elderly tour group from Jinchang, Gansu. The team leader, Mr. Lu, remembered that they went to Juyanhai to watch the sunrise at 5 a.m., and when they returned to the hotel, it was close to 9 a.m. when they received a notice from the local area that they wanted to lock down. In less than an hour, the nucleic acid testing point next to the hotel was set up and everyone was notified to perform nucleic acid testing.

The border town was closed overnight. The hot tourist town suddenly fell into the desert. However, more than 9,700 foreign tourists were forced to stay in Ejina.

  “Epidemic” food without worry

Loving meals, timely medicines, reduced room rates…Ejina Banner has launched a life guarantee mechanism for stranded tourists to solve the problems that tourists have strongly complained about meals, medications, and expensive accommodation fees, so as to ensure that tourists have no worries about the “epidemic” food.

The Ejina Banner New Crown Pneumonia Prevention and Control Work Headquarters reported that, starting from October 22, it will provide stranded tourists staying in hotels with a free meal every day, as well as a disposable medical mask, a portion of instant noodles, ham sausage and mineral water.

The Ejina Banner Desert Banquet Hall is a restaurant designated by the government to provide meals for stranded tourists. Xiang Ying, the person in charge of the restaurant, said: “The government uniformly allocates grain, oil, and vegetables and other materials, and the current stocks of materials are sufficient.”

According to the relevant staff of the headquarters, Ejina Banner has stored more than 4,500 tons of living materials in 14 categories, and coordinated with the surrounding areas to open up green channels for the transportation of daily necessities to ensure that the material reserves can meet normal needs.

During the period of stay, there was a shortage of medicines for the treatment of high blood pressure and diabetes that the old people of the tour group carried with them. In response, Ejina Banner adopts a zero-contact service model of “payment for online drug purchases and home delivery of drugs offline”, and organizes volunteers to go to hotels to buy and distribute drugs for tourists in need.

Originally Ejina Banner was in the peak tourist season, and the hotel uniformly implemented the peak season price. During the emergency response to the epidemic prevention and control, Ejina Banner implemented price control measures for hotels, stipulating that the single-day room rate should not exceed 200 yuan, and the market supervision department will supervise it.

“B&B room rates have dropped from 180 yuan a day to 20 yuan, and the boss only charged us utility bills.” Ms. An, a tourist from Anhui, said, “Although we can’t go out, our daily necessities are guaranteed. I hope the epidemic will end soon.”

  Prevention and control continue

On October 26, Ejina Banner launched the fifth round of nucleic acid testing for all employees. At 6 am, Lu Meisi, a nurse at the Dongfeng Town Central Hospital in Ejina Banner, Alxa League, Inner Mongolia, was awakened by her colleagues. “It will be dawn in more than an hour, and we are going to the house to conduct nucleic acid sampling for residents.” Lu Meisi said.

At almost the same time, the cleaner Ding Yufen and his colleagues had put on protective clothing and drove the garbage transfer truck to various enclosed and controlled communities. Ding Yufen said: “The property staff will first eliminate the waste in the community, and we will do it again before transferring, and then concentrate on processing.”

At twilight, the epidemic prevention and control personnel have started a busy day on the front line of the Ejina Banner anti-epidemic.

Workers who stick to the front line of epidemic prevention and control are the unforgettable concerns of the union’s “mother family”. On October 22, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Federation of Trade Unions urgently allocated 1 million yuan for epidemic prevention and control funds. The Alxa League’s labor union has raised funds from multiple sources and allocated a total of 3 million yuan (including 1 million yuan for epidemic prevention and control funds of the Autonomous Region Federation of Trade Unions) to key areas and departments for epidemic prevention and control to care for front-line employees of epidemic prevention and control and purchase epidemic prevention and control materials.

Short video creator Wang Li presented the situation of a family stranded in Ejina through a short video. In the video, she encourages tourists who are also stranded here: “If you are in Alxa at this time, I hope you are as strong as Populus and actively respond to the epidemic.”

The Ejina Banner Culture, Tourism, Radio, Film and Television Bureau issued a letter to stranded tourists. The letter stated that it would give stranded tourists tickets to the core scenic spots, which can be visited for free within 3 years. “
