An Australian police officer called to the deadly stabbings in Sydney last Saturday discovered at the scene that his 25-year-old fiancée was one of the victims.
A police officer called to the Australian mall’s knife crime scene discovered his fiancée was one of six dead, it emerged earlier this evening.
Agent Ashley Wildey planned to marry Dawn Singleton, the 25-year-old daughter of a wealthy advertising mogul with whom he had been dating since high school. He had actually just finished his shift last Saturday when he was called to go to the Westfield shopping center in Bondi Junction in Sydney with some colleagues at around 3.30pm. There, a perpetrator, 40-year-old Joel Cauchi, had attacked several people with a knife. Six of the victims, five women and a male guard, were killed.
It was only after he arrived on the scene that Wildey discovered that his fiancée was one of the fatalities. “Ashley had already arrived at the mall when his colleagues realized that Dawn had been killed,” a police source told local media.
“Dawn had just gone to buy some make-up in a Chanel store,” one of the victim’s friends told The Daily Telegraph. “She had only been in for fifteen minutes.”
Immediately after hearing the news, Wildey was allowed to leave the scene so he could be comforted by friends and family.
