People in the Jishishan earthquake-stricken area of Gansu welcomed the Spring Festival with a series of cultural and festive activities. On the eve of the Spring Festival, locals in the resettlement site of the earthquake-stricken area in Jishishan County, Linxia Prefecture, Gansu Province, displayed their festive spirit by hanging lanterns on their wooden houses and pasting the word “Fu” on them. They also fried fruits, nuts, and other New Year foods, held New Year’s fairs, and organized cultural and artistic performances to welcome the Year of the Dragon.

Students at the resettlement site of Xiaohongping Village, Shiyuan Town, Jishishan County, rehearsed cultural programs to be performed at the “Village Evening” while people affected by the disaster put the word “福” on the doors of their houses in Tuanjie Village, Liuji Township, Jishishan County. Additionally, residents celebrated by attending the Nongmao Road New Year Market to purchase traditional New Year goods.

The community came together to share in the joy of the Spring Festival despite the challenges of the earthquake, showing resilience and a strong sense of community spirit. The cultural and festive activities provided a much-needed sense of unity and celebration for the people in the earthquake-stricken area as they welcomed the New Year amidst difficult circumstances.
