Police officer Geovanny Rodríguez in the JOH trial reveals that he killed the “Golden Prosecutor”

Former police officer Geovanny Rodríguez, the twelfth witness in the trial of former president Juan Orlando Hernández, made shocking revelations during his testimony. Rodríguez confessed to ordering the killing of Orlan Chávez, also known as the “Golden Prosecutor,” in addition to admitting his involvement in drug trafficking.

According to Rodríguez, he worked alongside police officer Mauricio Hernández Pineda, who allegedly assured him that they were protected by “Tony” Hernández and Juan Orlando Hernández. He revealed that they would use Tony Hernández’s house for their illegal activities and even saw large sums of money wrapped in plastic, resembling drug trafficking operations.

During his cross-examination by JOH’s lawyer, Rodríguez admitted to lying under oath and providing false information during the trial. He also revealed that he had been convicted but had the conviction overturned after a friend spoke to the judge.

Rodríguez’s testimony sheds light on the dark underworld of drug trafficking and corruption within law enforcement in Honduras. His cooperation agreement with US authorities may have far-reaching implications for the trial and could provide crucial insight into the alleged criminal activities of Juan Orlando Hernández and his associates. The trial continues as more witnesses come forward with damning revelations.
